2014 dodge Durango limited 102,000 miles overheating

So my 2014 dodge Durango keeps overheating. We have taken it to a mechanic twice for the same problem and this Friday it will be the third. It has gotten the thermostat replaced and a coolant flush as well as the lines cleared. The top hose gets hot but the bottom is cold. We noticed that when we have the heated seats on it overheats quickly. So we stopped turning them on but now it overheats no matter what. We even had the cold a/c running and it still overheats. The fans seem to spin but there is a smell sometimes when it starts overheating. The mechanic thinks either a new radiometer or head gasket will fix the issue. Can you think of anything else that could cause it to overheat before I spend that money just for the issue to still be there.

If the bottom radiator hose is cold your radiator is clogged.

I just got the radiator replaced as well as both top and bottom hose. The temperature gauge keeps moving a lot and today it finally showed the sign of overheating again. Idk if I should just sell the car at this point. It doesn’t smoke or have a leaking and it still says it overheats.

Sounds like time to test the head gasket.

Just tested it and was told it’s not the gaskets but it still overheats. Was told by the mechanic that he can’t figure what’s causing it to overheat but won’t touch the car anymore. Took it to the dealer was told the same thing that the test for the head gaskets came out negative and just had air pockets again somehow. Few hours later it overheats again. The coolant thank was at half full but when it overheated it was overflowing and popped of the yellow cap. So I’m just confused at this point what is causing the car to overheat
