So a family member purchased a 2014 Nissan Altima SV (with the 2.5L 4 cylinder) which has the CVT (against my suggestion of getting a Honda or Toyota instead).
Anyway, sale is done and they own the car. Car IS in great condition, with no rust and very clean, no leaks runs and shifts great... except for we found out that the transmission fluid was NEVER changed and it's at 100k now. Should we change the fluid or just leave it alone?
Being a CVT I'm tempted to because it needs to be done regularly, but part of me says if it's working fine, leave it alone since it hasn't been changed.
Thoughts?
I would change it and the filter if possible. I would save the old fluid incase it starts to slip after the change.
be realy careful. purchase nissan fluid and shouldn't see a difference.
Yeah they plan to just take it to a Nissan dealer and use the Nissan fluid and will ask them to change the filter too.
I'm just one of those who feels that if you havnt' changed the trans fluid in 100k you might want to just leave it, but then again, this is a Nissan and with a CVT so it's probably best to change it.
