Ok. So I know it kinda sounds like a typical Head Gasket blown problem.
BUT, The coolant is leaking out leaving a puddle... so is it really a Head gasket or can it be something else? Need help.
The story is: The car is an Nissan XTERRA 2002, 3.3 V6, all was well, running normal, no overheating or anything weird.... and then all of the sudden white smoke starts to come out of the tailpipe, so immediately pulled over to park and it was running rough and when parked noticed a lot of coolant dripping down.
Haven't moved it since, other than just starting it to try to diagnose what it was, basically idling rough, constant white smoke coming from tail pipe and coolant dripping down from the back part of engine (not from the radiator side).
Questions:
-What is it?
-I it necessarily a Head Gastket? what else could it be?
-Can I move it or drive it home or a mechanic to check it?
THAN YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP, ANSWERS AND WISDOM as i try to figure out what to do.
@jsalomon
To me it sounds like a head gasket issue. But it could also be an intake manifold gasket issue as well. One of those two id say for sure.
Hello,
I don't recommend from what you described driving the car to a mechanic, Have it towed, A coolant system pressure test should settle the question of the head gasket or possible a water pump.
I include a link to replacement engine cost for your information.
All the Best.

Hmm never work on this car . Start off look at pcv valve. If this blocked it can can cause to much preasure in the system ..
