Am I the only one to practice driving and pass the driver’s license test in a big vehicle such as SUV’s or pickup trucks ? Story time : I practiced driving and passed my driving test in my dad’s Chevy Suburban and people, including the driving instructor, thought that the idea of a teenager practicing and passing in a huge vehicle was insane. This ended up conditioning me to hate regular sized cars for the first year or so of having my license even though I’m only 5’10. I was so used to the large amount of space in that Suburban after practicing in it and continuing to daily it for the first 8 months of having my license, that when I finally got my own car, I still kept asking my dad to let me take the Suburban out despite the crappy gas mileage 😆. It wasn’t until I got a Civic, which made me claustrophobic, that I started appreciating my mid-sized sedans more 😆
Not an SUV, but 41 yrs. ago, I took and passed my test in my older sister's 1977 Ford LTD II (coupe). It was huge nearly 18 feet long. I loved that car had V8 351 Windsor.
I passed mine in a 1981 Mustang coupe. Easy to drive and park. Was a manual but I had it down by the time the test took place.
I practised in a full size van. They high driver position gives excellent visibility. And if you can parallel park a full size van, you can park anything.
got mine with a '70 Ford Custom Cab short bed
my sister tried in a '58 Biscayne
Y’all are more brave than me. I don’t like driving big vehicles; I can’t imagine driving one of those for a driving test.
Unpopular opinion : I think driving a. Chevy Suburban or Ford F-150 is easier than driving a Honda Civic lmao
Parking is a different story tho
