Best gas or oil for GDI

I have a Ford Ecosport with the 2.0L non-turbo 4. It uses GDI fuel injection.  Is there an oil (or gas) that would keep intake carbon deposits down? Thanks for any input.

You could try using Ethanol Free gas as this may keep the carbon buildup down. Ethanol free gas seems to work really well, no matter what the vehicle.

I did some more research and using top tier rated gas makes a difference. AAA actually did a study and showed top tier gas reduced build up. https://www.aaa.com/AAA/common/AAR/files/Fuel-Quality-Full-Report.pdf

  1. As far as gas, use the octane that it calls for and go to gas stations that get business. Not a run down station.

Oil - you can try the new GF-6 oil. Otherwise the best that you can do is to use full synthetic of the oil grade that your car calls for. No particular brand. I've seen tests and all will be fine to use.

Another option is to install an oil catch can. It will catch most oil vapors before getting into the intake. They are not difficult to install so even if you're not comfortable it won't cost much at a mechanic to put it on. The only caution with that is that you need to check it and empty it regularly. When I had one I could get by just checking it every oil change in warmer weather but once a week in cold weather because it also catches water condensation. When first installed you'll want to check it frequently to get an idea how quickly yours fills up.

They are very effective though.

You would want to use the  gf6 oil that is made especially for GDI engines. As for gas any quality gasoline is fine in the United States
