Burning Smell - Sometimes

I have a 2017 Ford Expedition. Sometimes when accelerating moderately to hard I will get a burning smell in the cabin. It only occurs during acceleration but not all the time even then.

I have had the truck at the dealership a couple of times (since it is still under warranty) but they can never duplicate the problem and claim nothing is wrong.

What's going on? Thx

Had that happen with a failing serpentine belt idler pulley. Intermittently locks up and belt seizes for a bit. AC compressor clutch will do the same.

Typical response from a dealership when warranty work is involved..."can't duplicate, nothing is wrong"...the reason is, they don't make much money on warranty work so they don't make much effort. Take it in there out of warranty and they will take advantage of you...$$$..finding all sorts of things to fix.

Hi, thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply.

I don't think the smell is coming from the engine bay area. Once, when it was happening, I pulled the truck over immediately and checked under the hood. Couldn't smell anything but your usual engine smells.

Unfortunately I've never been able to duplicate the problem with the vehicle sitting. I tried revving the engine while in park but never smelt anything unusual.

One thing I did notice is the "fart can" at the back is blowing out some of the fiber glass material. Not much but it is noticeable. It's actually a resonator to make the V6 turbo engine sound more like a real truck. Next time it goes for in for servicing I'll have them check it out.

W.R.T. warrantee, I made sure they noted in their records about the smell.
