Calling all car geniuses and brainiacs!

I’m currently looking at a 2000 Toyota Solara convertible with 120,000 miles on it. It looks likes it’s in really good shape (for a 20 year old car) and the owner is asking for 6,000. This is gonna be my dd. Would ya’ll get it? I understand the Toyota Solara is a very well made car. Any advice helps.

Best,

Mickey

Sorry, ya’ll! Won’t let it happens again 👍🏽

Oh shucks no. I can get a 2010 Camry with 100k for that price. Look harder.

I'd go for it if it were half that price.

Good car, but wayyy overpriced. I would offer at max $3000 for that.

Try not letting the fact that it's a potentially collectable ragtop coupe cloud your judgement. Smile

Be sure to ask if the timing belt has been replaced.  If it hasn't, you can use that to negotiate the price then get it changed if you're successful in the purchase.  If the seller insists the timing belt was swapped, ask for proof.  The sources I've read say this is a non interference engine- if the belt breaks and any valves are stuck in the open position, the pistons won't slam into the valves on the up stroke and bend the valves and/or break the piston(s).
