Car left for weeks at a time

Hey,

I work on a rotational schedule and leave me car for about 3 weeks at a time. I haven't had any problems but is it safer to disconnect the battery every time i leave and then just reconnect a couple weeks later? Pros/cons please?

Get a battery tender if your car is parked inside.

You should drive it when you have the chance for 20-30 mins to get the condensation out of the powertrain and fluids.

Shouldn't be necessary if the battery is not discharging between starts. If you disconnect the battery you'll lose any stored settings in the radio and the car's computers, unless it is so old those things are not an issue. The engine may even run rough for a bit while the computer relearns everything.

In an ideal scenario (brand new, high capacity battery, perfect health, warm weather), then you wouldn't have to worry about it. In the real world, things happen, so I would put it on a trickle charger.

Disconnecting it won't do much IMO.
