I have a 2003 Ford F-250 diesel with a 7.3 engine and I'm getting a check engine light when towing my heavy trailer.
When I let up on the pedal the light will go away. We've tried reading the codes and it doesn't want to hold the code so no one has been able to read it.
I've changed the fuel filter and the air filter and it still happened.
Also doesn't seem to do it when towing my smaller trailer or empty.
Not really sure where to even start.
Thanks!
Well you got some weird problem because I'm at vehicle because if it's year the codes should always stay in the vehicle even if the cold comes on once and goes off it should be stored in the memory. If that is not the case then you may have a computer failure problem because the computer isn't keeping its own memory
Is there a way to tell before spending $500 for a new ECM?
I don't live that far from you. 😉 I'm within 30 miles. lol
Well darn, I thought he was in the Houston area..
So I guess back to my original question... Any way to check an ECM without buying a new one to make sure I'm not wasting money?
And I looked it up and found many different prices. From $250 up to $1500. What's the difference? Are they the same thing?
Thanks!
