Love the channel Scotty! I have a question for you. I have a 2005 Pontiac GTO and I recently started having an issue with what feels like the rear end. I parked my car after highway driving and started it back up 5 minutes later and when I turned my wheel and tried to reverse I had some loud clunking noise coming from my rear end, but only when the wheel was turned. I put it in drive to take off and it did the same thing, but again, only with the wheel turned. After a couple blocks it went away. Today it just started making the same noise but it happens when I'm almost at a complete stop at a light, clunk. Slight Vibration in the wheel as well. I replaced the drift shaft carrier bearing 5 months ago so that is relatively new. I just purchased new CV axles for the rear. Do you think that could be the issue? I didn't see any cracks in the shaft boots. I also checked for movment in the wheels by grabbing them and trying to shake side to side and up and down it's solid. Any other ideas what this could be?? Thank you!
take it to a transmission/gear shop specialist, but differential is probably toast.
When did you last change your differential oil in this 17 year old car? What is the vehicle mileage now? Supposed to be changed every 30-50K miles.
