Hi Scotty, how much hp can a crown vic 4.6 2v handle? I was wanting to cam it but didn’t know if it could handle it.

You need to post your complete vehicle info EVERY TIME, please.

If you are forgetful then just put the info in your signature and be done with it. (Go to "My Profile" at the top of the page.)

You have been a repeat offender, so I'm going to start deleting your questions if they are missing this info.

Thank you.

If you have an early 2000s car, they're the same Modular V8 engines that are in Mustangs of the period. You're just wasting your time if you just do a cam swap. Everything is worn out and you'll just trash the car sooner.

If the car is in good shape, you might consider putting the modifications for the Ford Mustang SVT V8 on your engine after doing an overhaul? If you have an early 2000s car, the Modular V8 is the base engine in both cars -you didn't mention the year in your question. A supercharger is going to put out a lot more power than a cam will, especially with a rebuilt engine. This wouldn't be cheap either, but it would definitely make that Crown Victoria not your average grandpa car. I'm not sure if the hood will provide the needed clearance for the supercharger. If it does, or could be modified to do so, that would make quite a "sleeper" as street racers call them.

Just leave the poor old girl alone.

Looking at your history, this car is riddled with problems, and this would just add to them.

It's a total waste of money anyway. The CV is not a car made for speed, and you would be paying someone more than the whole car is worth. Be happy the car is working and stop trying to mod it.
