Should I put Castrol in my CVT

I saw Mr. Kilmer recently recommending Valvoline "universal" ATF when using it in his toyota. I was looking to change my old Nissan's CVT fluid with Castrol CVT fluid (the price difference is staggering) which says on the bottle it's compatible with the NS-2 fluid that my car requires. All the reviews say that it is good for my application in their experiences.

Question is, do yall foresee using this Castrol fluid damaging my transmission? From what I can find the answer is no, but I wanted another opinion.

Considering how junky sensitive Nissan CVTs are I wouldn't take a chance on an aftermarket fluid. You may be able to find the OEM fluid online at a discount versus the dealer parts department.

ya even online there's a $100+ difference. People were saying online that the OEM ns-2 fluid is part of the reason for nissan cvt failures because of its poor heat tolerance and that this Castrol stuff is actually better, but I don't have the numbers to back that up.

The crossed-out part made me chuckle

I'd want to see some hard data on that Castrol claim.

Which will cost more, the OEM fluid or a replacement CVT? Though as @kaizen mentioned, if you can find out who makes the fluid for Nissan and buy that brand while meeting Nissan specs you should be OK.

Try to find out who the OEM is for Nissan CVT fluid. And if that fluid meets Nissan requirements.
