CVT transmission cooler

Hey Scotty,

we’re looking a 2024 subaru crosstrek (non wilderness trim) the plan is to do some light off-roading/over landing, but for rather long trips over multiple days. I’m a bit worried about the CVT, do you recommend adding a CVT cooler? I’m worried about overheating and causing damage. I’d like to make this car last as long as possible

thanks

The best thing you can do for the CVT is to ignore what Subaru says about "lifetime fluid" and change it about every 30K miles. (You would probably want to do the first change after the factory warranty is up since changing it sooner can void the warranty.)

I would not do any towing or any serious off-roading either, nothing that puts the CVT under undue stress.
