Hi Scotty,
Huge fan, I'm the original owner of a 2003 Element DX, AWD automatic. It's been sitting in my driveway because I'm pretty sure the Shift Solenoids are clogged. The transmission stopped shifting, unless I manually went from 1st to 2nd. Car has 128,000 Hwy miles. I've always diligently changed all the fluids, (including rear differential & Transmission, etc...). This appears to be a fairly common issue with the Element and other Honda's. What kind of scanner would you recommend that could read the transmission code? Thank you in advance.

Ideally you'd want a dealer level scan tool to check so you take out any guess work. Most shops will have something like that but ask when you call because some places specialize in certain makes and models. Pray it's just a solenoid because transmissions are often not cheap to fix in general and good luck with getting her fixed.
