Differential of a 4x4 SUV

Hello, Scotty,

I bought a Daihatsu Terios J2 SUV - 2007, 105 hp, 1500 cm3 with a manual gear box, 235 000 km. And that's my first car so I don't know a lot of things. A collegue of mine said that he hears a strange noise with the differential. I took it to two car mechanics and both said that the diff was OK. The first one lifted the car, tried spinning the shaft that connects the gearbox and the gearbox of the differential. No strange noise was heared. When he spun the back left rear wheel - I heared a noise and the mechanic said that this was a bearing. The second one drove it on a bad terrain (a street with lots of holes) and like me heared nothing wrong. How can I tell when a differential needs to be checked? What are the signs that the differential has been damaged? Is there a way to know what is the difference when it comes to noise between a damaged differential and a bearing The oil has been changed when the SUV was bought.

Is it true that if a brake disc is bent if you let go of the steering wheel when in motion, the car starts to drift a little bit to a side?

Thanks a lot!

change the bearing and see if the noise goes away.
