Good afternoon Scotty
I own a Honda Accord 2010 e-xl. I recently took it to a mechanic shop roughly around a week ago and they replace the spark plugs, coils, and crankshaft. My check engine light was flashing and they determined that all of that needed to be replaced. Ultimately my car was losing power on the road. One week later my check engine light turns on again but this time it's not flashing. When they check to see what codes my car was giving off. They just received the same code as last time, so they believe it could be a misread code. Now they are telling me to go to a dealership to get a ECM test at Honda. They want to charge me $150 Just for a ECM test. When I went to the mechanic to go see what the problem was since the check engine light was on. I almost forgot to mention that As soon as he told me the information about going to the dealership, me and my father were about to head out back home.. But my car did not want to turn on. They had to jump start it which was so bizarre to me. What do you think the problem could be Scotty? They said that when the car has computer problems it can drain out the battery. But as soon as they jump start my car, my check engine light disappeared.
It sounds like your alternator is going bad and or the battery. That might be all that's wrong and causing all your issues. I've seen it happen in a 09 Civic.
Last year a woman brought her car to me. It had a Misfire, flashing check engine light and ECU data not found. I couldn't use a scan tool since the ECU read no data.. after looking it over and thinking long and hard i realized the
alternator must be failing and or the battery. I was right the alternator was bad and low voltage caused all the issues.
