Hi there Scotty! I hope you're well. I checked out a nice looking 2017 Ford Escape today. It had all the bells and whistles but it clocked at 200 thousand miles driven by employees of a corporation company (not sure which company). The guy wants $8000.000 for it. It's really nice looking and brand spanking new but my experience with Fords is that they have tons of issues.
I have another guy who is selling a 2006 Toyota Highlander very well taken care of and it has 190k miles. I really like the Highlander and it felt smooth on the road, no leaks not nothing. Maybe he cleaned the engine with a cleaner to make it look nice. It did have the horse shoe signal for tires on. No dings no paint scratches anywhere. The frame looked straight, however, the suspension was a little woozy. Please advise!
Thank you Kind sir. You're a gentlemen and a scholar!

$8,000 is kinda high for a 4-5 year old Ford Escape with north of 200k. If it was all highway driving, that certainly helps, but given that it was a company car, people may have beat the crap out of it, especially if it's an EcoBoost model. Older Fords were better than these new ones. My 2017 Mustang hardly has 21k on it and the evap system is acts up already.
190k on a 15 year old Toyota Highlander is just past breaking in, it'll get worse gas mileage than that Escape, but it's not going to possibly become an expensive problem in the relative near future. Suspension stuff is wear and tear at that age on the Highlander, and should be relatively easy to fix yourself if you're a DIYer. The full frame means you can tow a lot more than the unibody Escape if you ever want to. Personally, I'd lean towards the Highlander, but get the one you want inspected by a good mechanic before you buy them.
Thank you! Take care. I think I'm going to take that Highlander even though it has 90k miles, I think it will last a very long time. It is well taken care of.
How much for the Highlander?
New suspension costs peanuts on the Highlander, considering it may easily last another 200,000 miles -
Be sure to have it inspected by a mechanic, before purchase.
All the best!
waaay too much for the Escape
Between those two options, definitely avoid the Ford Escape - it’s past it’s prime.
$4800 on the Highlander. Im not sure it's worth it.
