Hi Scott, I live in the Tampa Bay area and I have watched your YouTube channel for a couple of years now and you've given great advice and even boost my confidence with the understanding because you explain things so well. I have a 2015 XC90 Volvo T6 (its White and her name is Pearl) shes fully loaded and has a moon roof.

I bought it from a Volvo dealership, about two years ago. I think Volvo's are great they're very heavy cars and reliable and I feel very safe in it, as I'm a mom as well.

I recently changed the tires I bought four brand-new Michelin Defenders from Costco and I can definitely feel the difference on them.

my question today is about H2O oxygen sensors (code P0240) - catalyst efficiency system below threshold - Bank 1)

It also says it may be covered under a twn year warranty? Is that possible. Nobody can give me a straight answer.

my check engine light was coming on and I went and got a Diagnostics $180 from Volvo, I realize they did not apply the $180/ as a credit to the bill as they said they would if I went head with the work. they said it was the H2O sensor I also keep a T-Mobile sync up plug-in that I got for $10 a month plugged in as well, and it was the same code that popped up originally. I got a quote for $717 including my oil change from Volvo when I went to go get the work done my bill ended up being $996 and from what I can see from the Volvo dealership they double charged me for the part they charge me $500 for the sensor over $300 for labor plus my oil change I contacted Volvo directly and they said that that seemed kind of high even saying that I needed to get my airbag refreshed. total bill was almost $2,400 and more than half of it was Labor, so I didn't go ahead with it at that time obviously and I asked two people a neighbor and a friend of mine and they said it was pretty high as well and was not necessary. so I contacted Volvo directly and they actually wanted to see the bill and they sent me an email document to fill out and if I submitted the bill to them they would reimburse me for 30% up until the end of the year if I go ahead and went ahead with the work I wanted to know how much it really does cost for oxygen sensors to get replaced and also the day after I had the oxygen sensor replaced the check engine light came back on again and it was the same diagnostics code. so I don't even know if they actually change the sensor or there's something wrong with the sensor again or faulty sensor but I don't want this beautiful car to become a money pit because it drives great, I love it. I hope to have it for a long time and I'll certainly take care of it. the other thing that's going on is my CV joints are squeaking so if you can explain to a mother-of-one what I need to do or where I can go to get this done even going to a secondary mechanic and not necessarily directly to the dealership, as I have done right from the start it would be much appreciated.

know this letter is probably perhaps a bit long-winded I'm talk texting on my telephone right now. I thank you in advance for all of your help and advice happy holidays.

Kerry,

this is an online forum, and we will never telephone or email you. It's a really bad idea to post your personal info in a public online place for all to see. If I didn't like you, I could go provide your email to 100,000 email lists with the click of a button, and you would never be able to use it again. Or I give your phone number to some Indian call scammers.  I'm sure that would not be good for you or your business. You should practice safer online habits. 🙂

Typical dealership rip off.  Nothing new here.  By the way, there is no such thing as an H20 sensor if that's what they told you.  It's an 02 sensor.
