Heat gets cold and warm again

Hi Scotty, 

Love your show 😊

I have a 2004 Toyota Highlander with 152k miles in NYC. Bought the car in May and love it.

Today I have noticed that when I heat the car and drive it for a while the heat switches to cold and back to heat (I keep it full blast and hot all the time).

I have not yet changed the coolant. Planned to do it after the winter ❄️

Any idea what it could be?

Change the coolant and the thermostat I would also flush out the heater

For the thermostat should I buy OEM from Toyota for $150 or Autozone for $20?

If Autozone has the OEM one, buy it there. You will pay less than at a dealer.
