I’m driving a 2011 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner at 112,000 miles. Whenever I roll the windows down I can hear a hiss, almost like an air leak or something, out of the front driver side wheel well (it may be elsewhere to but this is the only place I can hear it), but this only really occurs on bumpy or windy roads. It’s not a squeal like the brakes, it sounds different. Maybe my brake pads are loose or something got caught up in them? This started around the same time that I took some off road trails. It’s been doing it for about 3k miles now. Thanks!
To be clear this his isn’t a constant hiss, it only happens on bumps and whenever I’m turning the wheel for the most part. Then Sometimes it just randomly starts and stops intermittently.
Can you make a YouTube video of the noise & post the link here?
It sounds like you may have picket up a leafy branch in you off road adventure and it got stuck in behind a brake backing plate or something like that. I would jack it up and remove the front wheels for a thorough inspection.
I looked and couldn’t find anything. Also tried to spray it out with an air compressor. Even gave the brake rotors and pads a good spray with brake cleaner, not change. Any more thoughts?
