Does anyone know to change Transmission Fluid while your Car Engine is Running(HOT) or Car Engine is off (COOL) on a 2008 Acura CSX Touring model and when do you require to change how many kilometres or miles? Thank you!
Change the fluid with the car warmed up, engine OFF, every 30-50,000 miles with a new filter.
thank you for your response. Is there a filter for transmission fluid as well I thought it was just the fluid? Can you clarify?

OEM filter is fine but probably at least twice the price of the after market filter that does the same thing.
Doc the link you just provided is for a TSX model.
I have never heard of changing transmission oil while the engine is on. Unless there is some obscure engine that requires it.
Fluid exchange machines require the engine to be running.
I've done it myself this way too.
That’s very interesting. If I may ask, why does the engine need to be running for this to be done? Is this the “better” way to do it?
Thank you MountainManJoe & Kaizen. I would really think it's unsafe while the engine would be running to change the fluid. I was just wondering would be best to change while the engine is Hot or engine is cool would be best or does it matter at all? Thanks!
@Kaizen, Basically from what I've read you disconnect the transmission cooler return line so it drains into a pan or bottle, and with the engine running the transmission pumps fluid out while you add more fluid in at the same time. Does a complete change of fluid instead of just what's in the pan. You have to be careful not to let the trans run dry. I've never tried doing it myself.

warm fluid is runnier and drains better
Interesting, will have to try it sometime instead of doing 3 or 4 drain and fills.
Can this be done on all types of transmissions, or just certain Ones with that type of pan? The transmissions I have run into doesn’t have that type of a pan.
I don't know. I haven't seen, researched, or worked on all transmissions. Or even 1% of them.
