How to disable keyless entry system (not fob, enture system)

I want to completely disable the keyless entry system on my 04 Camry. By this, I don't mean "put the fob to sleep" or anything like that. I mean make it to where the receiver will not accept any signals no matter what. I've read online read that the CPU had a receiver for the signals, but I want to confirm with reliable sources. I also don't want to screw the locks or anything up trying to do this; I just want to prevent anyone from trying to use a fob to unlock it period.

I know that each fob is keyed to the car it goes to, but I figure it's just a matter of time before some rancid "genius" finds a way to spoof this system without a keyfob signal repeater and I'd like to just nip any concerns before they start.

Any ideas folks? Or am I just both paranoid and a royal pain?

Thanks in advance,

wrap your car in aluminum foil 😆

Very funny...how about an idea that won't get my wife's foot rammed up my backside for wasting her foil? O.o

I think you're being a little paranoid. Camrys aren't targets for sophisticated attacks like that. High tech thieves go for the big prizes ... $100,000+ cars. You have to realize that the media and online bloggers publish sensational articles like that to attract clicks to get the advertisement money.
.
But if you're adamant, I guess you could find the receiver antenna and unplug it.

I dunno, maybe talk to a locksmith.  Those guys are always fixing keyless entry problems, maybe they know how to make one.

Or maybe isolate the fuse and pull it?  Or, if the receiver is accessible, disconnect the wire?

Dont do anything you can’t undo.  And don’t mess with the ECU unless you really know what you’re doing.

We need @jack 62 for an informed answer on this one.

04 camry what are you drinking or smoking that car is more bulletproof then a mercedes or bmw. Stop being paranoid or just remove the fuse and manually lock and unlock the car.

easy there tiger

Sorry, if that was a little strong. But for real, early 2000's toyota blade key are really hard to make a remote. The key is not that bad unless you don't have any key then needs a ecu reflash as for remote it only unlocks and locks car nothing really advance there. Now when you comes to the push start and proximity ahh run away( under 5 minutes and someone without any key drives away with your car) . Blade key you need key blade or break ignition lock plus a coded transponder , push start all you need is an universal proximity key and your on the way out. Don't worry about your 2004 camry. But if you really want to disable the remote go to fuse box and remove the fuse for keyless entry. But every time you open with key the horn might sound until you put key in ignition.

I have to fully agree with @mmj here. There are so many new cars out there that nobody is going to try to steal your 2004 Camry. Yes there are always thieves out there but if they're going to go through the trouble they're probably going to steal something much more expensive. There are all these things out there online about keyless entry and push start not being safe, and while to some extent it's true but it's not as horrible as they make people paranoid about. The software has enough built into it to make it safe enough for the general consumer otherwise cars would be stolen left and right. Just don't overthink it; it's totally fine.

Okay; thanks for the input folks. I ask because we had a rash of thefts where the thieves were actually using the remote entry to get into older cars (including some 03 camries and up)!

I appreciate the advice (including the reassurance that it's more difficult than it sounds at first glance). I think I'll go wrap a potato in some foil and bake it. 😀
