I've looked all over regarding if one can test a spark plug ignition "tube" that sits on top of each spark plug.
I don't want info on how to test the spark plug itself, just the black ignition tube on top of each plug.
I can't find any info (hope I'm not insulting anyone) on if one can use an ohm meter to check the health of a spark plug ignition "tube". There are four contact points on each ignition tube on a 2003 Camry/Solara 2.4l engine. Should pairing of contacts with an ohm meter all test no resistance or do some sets of pairings have a resistance level and that's the way it's supposed to be?
How do you test these puppies to see if they are good or bad without buying a test unit at the parts store or junk yard? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

The thing on top of the plug is the coil. Pull the plug out and test as normal. If the plug works then so does everything else.
I"ve got new plugs and a new pcv valve in the engine. The bad idling still continues even after a throttle body and fuel injector cleaning, and new motor mounts. Thanks for the info MountainManJoe
next time, start with that
