2008 Chevy Colorado 100k miles, 5 speed manual, 2.9 I4, 4x4
I have an intermittent code (p0017) that comes and goes on its own (without me clearing it manually). Within a single tank of gas, the light will come on/off once and often twice.
The truck runs well generally, other than occasionally (1 in 5 starts or so) having a slight hard start or hesitation on start, and slightly elevated idling RPM for 30 sec - 1min (900-1000 rpm idle after a "hard" start instead of 700-800 rpm after an "easy" start/warmed-up - is this the SAIS and unrelated to the P0017?). When this happens, it also stutters a bit as I give it fuel and let off the clutch pedal on initial take-off in 1st, but doesn't happen again on the same drive (e.g. when I make subsequent stops at a stop light/stop sign and take-off, no stutter. Could this be torque management operating "as intended" and unrelated to the P0017).
I can certainly live with this with no problem, as long as it's not a sign of worse to come. I bought the truck about 2 months ago, and it looks like the camshaft actuator solenoid was recently replaced. Unclear if this is the source of the problem, or more likely the previous owner's first attempt at fixing the problem.
Thanks!

The #1 cause of that code is a stretched timing chain, but there are others.
