Is the Nissan Armada a Reliable Long-Term SUV?

Scotty, I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I know that you’re truly NOT a Nissan Fan and hated them ever since Renault acquired them, but you never mentioned the Pathfinder’s larger brother, the Armada. We have a 2004 Nissan Armada we bought new, and it was absolutely babied and Garage kept almost its entire life! Even though it was first made when Renault acquired Nissan, it doesn’t have the crappy CVT transmission (neither does the 2nd-Gen Y62 Patrol-based one have them), since it’s a big heavy vehicle, and it has the 5.6L V8. What should I come to expect for these 1st-Gen (2004-2016) Armadas in the Future? Should we replace it or just keep it? I don’t know how many miles are on it since 2004, but It’s been running perfectly ever since, and was barely used except for luggage hauling or people carrying, and we took it off-road once (We originally planned to tow stuff with it, but we haven’t, but we’re yet to see).

My friend has one and it has had never-ending maddening problems.

It has some known problem with cracked exhaust manifolds, which is a big job. Maybe it's not the case for the majority.

But if you look at this year-by-year comparison, then 2004 looks like one of the worst years

@imperator I found out that ours has almost 14K MILES, VERY LOW for an ‘04, and it was GARAGE KEPT Almost ALL it’s life, ever since we bought the thing brand new back then, and barely any issues except for the AC knobs, but he fixed it anyway.

sounds a little too good to be true. Did you verify title records to see if they support the odometer?

@imperator Well, we hardly ever use the thing anyway, and it shows. Not just on the odometer, but the interior still looks and smells brand new with no signs of wear on the seats, and the black exterior paint looks shiny and smooth, as well as the original headlights and taillights, not fogged up at all, still looking shiny and gleaming bright.

Well since it's working okay for you keep it until you start having to spend on major repairs. But in general if you do decide to buy another big suv consider the Toyota Sequoia and for longevity buy a good used one that has the v8 engine.

@fjcruiser_2014 Well, I recently found out the mileage on our ‘04 Armada, 13,790. Very low for a 2004 Vehicle!!
