Hi Team Scotty Kilmer!
Hope you are having an incredible new year,
Today I am here to talk some more about why one should take the expert's (SK) advice and shy away from Hyundai/ Kia products 😂 .
Dude just bought a KIA Sonet (compact SUV sold in India) on 20th December 2020 - 7 days later on 27th December while his father was driving the engine mount broke, leaving him stranded on the road. He says the car hit a small pothole and weird rattling sounds arose from the engine bay.
Such a breakdown in a brand new car is simply unacceptable. Bringing up the question about build quality of the product after the infamous KIA Seltos brake failure issue.
My question - is it normal for the mount to break on any given vehicle with time.
I've driven number of vehicles over bad roads never encountered the same. Adding to the point have a Toyota Innova 2013 (MUV / Van 8 seater) which has clocked good 180K and counting. Earlier had a Mahindra XUV 500 (Indian Manufacturer) clocked trouble-free 200K kms with no mount or under the hood work whatsoever.
Starting to believe Hyundai over the years has gone the JLR road and quality, reliability has been tossed out of the window.
Kindly share with me your valuable inputs.
Thanks and regards
Love from India 🇮🇳
Thanks for sharing the experiences.
I've had engine mounts fail but typically when they're somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 20 years old or more. No way should hitting a pothole tear up an engine mount on a new car.
