I have a Kia Sorento 2015 with a engine that will not run and my insurance (State Farm) will not insure it if i get it fixed. Should i just sell it to a salvage company.? I might be able to get $1200 to $2000 for it from them. It is paid off, no loan or lean on it.
Yes. Sorentos are terrible cars and it'll end up being an endless money pit. Sell it and stay away from Korean cars.
And on top of that stolen, too! Gosh, those Korean car companies suck!
It might not be about fixing the car. Kia/Hyundai cars are very easy to steal (all you need is a phone charger cord, and the instructions are all over the internet). All the insurance companies are trying to shed risky things (their reserves are in low-interest bonds, which have sunk in value). Many insurance companies are dropping Kia/Hyundais like they were beachfront Florida real estate in hurricane season.

So according to this link and your insurance being State Farm and the year of your car, it's most likely because of the theft issues that they're not willing to insure it; not related to the repair. But also keep in mind if you fix it and want to sell it you won't need full coverage (which is the plan that you buy in case of theft or any other total loss). Put the car on the required insurance plans only such as liability etc., get it fixed and sell it.
What is the reason your insurance company won't insure it if the engine is repaired or replaced? There has to be more to it than that. Although getting rid of it is a good idea you'll get more money for it as a running vehicle.
That is the first time I have heard of insurance company not covering a vehicle if a powertrain has been replaced.
.
Maybe Hyundai Motor Group products are exceptions for some insurance companies since they catch on fire.
