What would be the better car to buy? A 2016 lexus IS 300 4dr Sdn AWD with 13,500 km automatic transmission with a 3.5L 6 cylinder engine. It is a private owner selling and he claims that it has been serviced regularly at lexus, the price is 26,888 canadian. Second option is a 2019 Acura ILX Premium A-spec package, 54,012 km fwd with automatic transmission. It has a 4 cylinder engine and is sold by a dealership. Would a Acura TLX be a better option or is the lexus still the better option to buy. I was looking at a infiniti q50 but dont know much about the reliability of those. I want a sporty sedan for daily driving that is not as common as a honda civic/accord or a camry. Are there any other vehicles in that caliber that anyone would recommend.
The Acura ILX is based on the Honda Civic Sedan. However, the Acura ILX comes with a bigger displacement 2.4L 201 hp I4 GDI engine - but at least it is naturally aspirated. The dealbreaker, however, is the fact that it is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission which is not going to last as long as a conventional automatic transmission. For longevity and lower cost of ownership (you didn’t say how many years and miles it needs to last you) I would avoid the ILX.
I would look at the ILX first, because it has the 2.4 L 4-cylinder K-Series engine, naturally aspirated. An engine family with a strong history resilient history. BUT, I would investigate the transmission. TMK, it is a DCT. If it was automatic, most likely yes. If it is a DCT, maybe.
But for recommendation, the IS is a great choice.
A TLX would be more comparable to a ES. So it’s kinda hard to compare.
