LN65 Hilux 2.4L

Hey scotty few months back i brought a 1988 LN65 hilux 2.4 diesel that had 625 000kms on the chasis when purchased with no rust. Pretty rare, so i snatched it up. It had an engine rebuild at around 580 000kms. I am the 2nd owner, this car is in very good condition inside and out considering we live in the tropics in far north Queensland Australia.

The engine leaks from the rocker cover only on the drivers side (right side), what do you suggest this could be? The more pressure that builds, the more it leaks, its not excessive but weeps oil all around the engine and gearbox. Also the engine ticks along with the revs subtly and it is only really noticeable in lower gears. Previous owner claims it came to do it only after the rebuild, not sure how common that is. Wondering what your thoughts are?

Not a good rebuild in my opinion.

Original owner hid alot of things upon purchase part wise which i was not really prepared to deal with but still worked out alright considering.

IVe had to replace the uni joints and centre support bearing as they were no good from the 2" lift kit that was installed a while back.. The support bearing was screaming once speed picked up, wasnt pleasant to drive. Ive just purchased an extended s shaped steering arm bc previous owner hadnt changed around the steering arm and is wearing on the Ubolt. Am yet to install with help of a friend. Is there anything else that should have been changed over aswell due to the lift kit?

Also at no matter what speed or gear im in you can feel and hear a vibrating noise somewhere on the throttle or clutch cable only at 2000rpm. It doesnt affect the driving in any way and have had people say its nothing to worry about but its quite annoying and would like to find whats causing this. Most of the parts are still genuine but am looking at replacing the fueltank, fuel lines and injectors as they all  look like they've seen better days.

Cheers Luke

Well guys don't often do such hot jobs rebuilding diesels that's a job that should be left only to guys that rebuild diesel engines and nothing else. Could be just needs a valve cover gasket what the heck I'd go there noise and that's cuz the guy didn't rebuild it right obviously.

Fair enough, i'll have a look into it.

probably a long shot but to your knowledge can you still source these engine's in 3.0L? In Aus obviously, as i imagine shipping would be far dearer from elsewhere
