So I know Scotty is usually all in on Toyota anything. I've been eyeballing some Sienna's (ranging from 2004-2010) and I found a few from dealerships (both Toyota franchises and Used Car joints), almost all of them under 150K miles, and surprisingly, all under $10K. Specific ones I've found are an '04 with 145K for $4,995, an '05 with 135K for $5,095 and an '07 with 135K for $7,995. The dealers have good reviews and seem reputable--so is there something with these model years to be weary of, is this a good price range considering the times right now, and what are some other things I should focus on when checking these out?
No the only problem is it's some of them can get a steering link problem so grab the steering wheel with the engine turned off and the key turned on and if you turn it and it's nice and tight that's fine but if it goes clunk or clonka don't buy it because that's like a $1,500 repair
Avoid the dealerships, they are a minefield. If you do have to buy from a dealer, have the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic before purchase.
The 2004 and 2005 have interference engine with timing belt which should have been done so far (considering the age and mileage of the car). For the 2007, they switched to the 3.5 liter V6 with timing chain which is a good engine and you do not have to worry about the timing belt but look for leaks (especially the timing cover).
