Scotty you've saved me thousands love your videos!
I recently bought my second ford explorer with the 4.6 ltr V8 engine, I still have my first one which is an 04 4x4 that I disconnected the front drive shaft on. Drove for two years no problems until the transmission went out under a heavy pulling load, but hey best $800.00 truck i ever bought.
My problem is with my second replacement explorer, its newer, an 05 has all wheel drive too but not 4x4, also has the 4.6, this one has less miles 200k is so much cleaner all around no rust shocks struts suspension all tight and new tires $2,000.00.
So problem day, I get a code po101, decided to clean The MAS and the throttle body only the AutoZone didn't have the MAS cleaner but did have the recommendations to use brake cleaner on both. Well I did, and next day drove 50 hard interstate miles. The problem starts after I return from the 50 miles, I make my second stop, spend 20 minutes in the place come out start my truck, only it doesn't start, it gives a weak backfire upmh then I smell fuel, but turns over only no start.
Code is back to po 101, so I buy a new MAS, install it? Still nothing but turn over and still smell fuel. Now new code po193. Fuel rail pressure sensor, I don't have the time to get to the parts house and then change it so im towed home. I remember when I get home that I have the 04 sitting in the back yard. The 04 runs strong, just the transmission went out, so I'm thinking I can save the $179.00 by using the good pressure sensor out of the 04?
Will this work for a temporary fix? And is this problem in part due to the brake cleaner?
I have discovered the #6 cylinder has blown a coil, it broke the secure tab that the bolt goes through but didn't blow out the coil or the plug. My o4 blew out no less than 4 of them, requiring me to re- tap the sparkplug outlet on two because of Fords lack of threadolets from the factory. I discovered there were only three full threads cut into the head by ford while the sparkplug has 10 threads!
Anyway I can change the coil, is there any signs in all this that you see? Things that I should look at as the reason all this is taking place? A better fix? A problem ahead? Anything you can think of that you can point me in the direction of is greatly appreciated. I love my Fords but they can have their days, we love your videos down here in Columbia SC Scotty keep up the good stuff,

sure try the sensor but I would never use brake cleaner I don't know they could have damaged I only use mass air flow sensor cleaner myself
Thank you scotty!
Never, ever use brake cleaner to clean a MAF sensor.......
