Hello, I like these two cars but they are both naturally aspirated. They both have 2.5l V6 204hp petrol engines and I am worried that they may be slow because of not much torque they have. In both cases, I am talking about 2008 but one is Lexus IS250 and the second car is a Mercedes W211 E230. I don't really know if W211 has any bigger issues or not (can you tell me if they do, especially petrol ones) but I know Lexus should be fine.
So my questions are:
how would you compare these two engines with a 2.0l 205hp petrol turbocharged engine for example?
Does W211 have any issues? especially petrol ones.
Test drive them both, for a good 20-30 minutes. Then compare it to your forced induction option.
I’m curious to know your results..
An N/A engine will always outlast a forced induction engine. That's just how it goes as there is less stress on the motor.
However, forced induction gives you big power gains and generally makes vehicles more fun to drive.
@InThrustWeTrust, as usual, is telling you the truth: in traffic, N/A is nice because you have instant power. But on the highway in an open area, turbos shine because they can spool up and make their power.
That may take some time, that's why I was hoping for some answers.
Having driven both turbo & NA vehicles, they both have their pros & cons.. However, for day to day driving in traffic, I prefer the instant torque of NA engines. The turbo engines shine on the highway especially if you’re not always stuck in traffic. Also for best longevity, go NA.
I won't be driving on a highway that much, traffic is also not that problematic here. I would mostly use it to cruise around but I would still like that power to overtake someone at a higher speed. Is NA still a good choice?

Test drive it, I think it’d perform just fine.. I’d recommend you look for something more reliable than a 13yr old E Class, if you plan to use it as your daily.
