OBD2 Memory Saver with Lithium Battery Jump Starter that goes up to 16V

Hi Scotty,

I watched your video about using a OBD2 memory saver when changing out batteries and using a 12V lithium battery jump starter. I checked my battery jump starter with a multitool, and it puts out close to 16V. Is this still acceptable and safe to use in conjunction with the OBD2 memory saver or is the voltage too high?

Cheers!

It's probably 16V when open circuit. When you hook it up, it will probably go down. Regardless, 16V is ok for short periods of time. i would be more worried about the jump starter doing weird things, because they turn on and off according their own program.

Thanks for the answer. My battery jump starter has a forced on mode that stays at 16V. Should I just not use this?

yes you can do that

Use a regular battery to avoid possible damages.
