Hello
I want to buy the most basic OBD scanner, but one that can do a complete reading of all systems...
What would you recommend and how can I check that it will fit my car?

See the FAQ.

Watch out! European OBD standards are different than N.America. You might have to ignore all the advice you find here, and talk to someone from the UK.

Thanks for the warning

As I get it, there exist no OBD scanners that can read/reset all codes for all cars (and for sure not a basic one)

There will be no supplier who will garantee, their scanner will read your car for sure.

The only way will be to try yourself (after buying) or find someone somewhere in your region with exactly the same car who has found a scanner that does.

Disgusting answer from BlueDriver 🙁

Certainly! For your vehicle specifically, we provide basic engine diagnostics, including emissions and live data, however enhanced diagnostics modules (ABS, SRS, HVAC, etc) will not be available, as the manufacturer has only allowed us to provide this data with BlueDriver in the US and Canada, currently.

Well you're not going to read everything with the cheap scan tool, but a good Bluetooth one is blue driver, a Canadian company you use with your smartphone

Yes, I saw your video on the subject... The problem is that I'm not sure it's compatible with my car... I tried to contact the support but there is no answer

I'm not a professional mechanic, just a DYI person, and I've been using a Foxwell NT301. It's been great so far. I even lend it out friends and family members when they buy used cars.

Thanks I'll check it out
This obd can read all the codes of the car?

Hello
I want to buy a FOXWELL scanner but I can't choose a model.
Can you please help me choose?

And if you think there is something better I would love to hear it

The model you choose depends on how much money you want to spend, and which functions you need.
Again, this is all explained in the FAQ, as was suggested to you two weeks ago. All our recommendations are in the FAQ.
But again Scotty's Youtube channel, and this forum, are aimed mainly at North American audiences. Europe, America, and Asia all have different regulatory bodies. The standards are not the same.
The info may not be accurate for your UK car. For the best advice, find a UK forum for your specific vehicle.

I talked to the seller and he said all his products support my car.
Now all that remains is to choose what to buy
I'm willing to pay $100 and I can go up to $200 if it's really worth it, my options are:

NT630 Plus
NT510 Elite
NT650 Elite
NT706
NT710

To me, that's a useless uttering of the seller...

He has not/will not give(n) you written and signed proof that 'his products' will show you all codes and let you do all code manipulations (erase, test a.s.o.) on codes which your car produces.

When his product reads 4 or 5 codes of your specific car, he can/will tell you, that product supports your car.

And that's no lie.

Face the fact, you're on your own for your choice of toy. Or let your brother or best friend buy exact the same car as yours and buy a scanner from your seller and let your victim do the test(ing) for you at his risk.....

Or go to a mechanic in your region who does code-reading, let him test your car and when you are satisfied with his results, buy  the same scanner he used (will cost you more as your car and bike together), but you will pay the price for 'sitting on the first row'.

I found 2 of your people within a 100km radius of me, with 510 and 650 that I can test But I was thinking about investing a little more and buying the nt710... If the other two work, is there a reason the model I want won't work?

my options are:

NT630 Plus
NT510 Elite
NT650 Elite
NT706
NT710

All the info you need is on their website. Read it carefully.

At a quick glance, I can personally knock several of those off your list right away....

  • The 510 is discontinued. Software is no longer available.
  • The 710 only works on one brand of vehicle. (you're not going to drive the same car your whole life)
  • The 630,650 & 706 do not scan all systems. For example the 650 can't read transmission which would be a deal breaker for me.

Decide what you're willing to compromise. There's no point spending money on functions that you won't use or understand.

Some mechanics and part stores even provide professional scans as a courtesy.

They even have a buyers guide to compare them. Do you need things like wireless connection?

https://www.foxwelldiag.com/pages/buyer-guide

The 680 and 800 series seem very capable and the best value if you know how to use them, but overkill for most people.

A lot of people buy fancy scanner thinking it's going to magically turn them into pro mechanics. They then find out they have no idea what they're doing. You need to have the mechanical background to understand what the scanner tells you.

As a beginner, maybe you should just start with a code reader and then upgrade later as you gain experience.

I did a thorough check...
The NT710 can be downloaded from up to 5 different car manufacturers
I still haven't received an answer about whether it is possible to delete a manufacturer and download another one...

If possible is it worth the money? Was it a good device to start with and for the future?

You can add more vehicles later, but you have to pay each time.
I haven't used it, but it looks like a capable tool and price is good.
Make sure your car is in the compatibility list: https://www.foxwelldiag.com/products/foxwell-nt710
Check the online reviews. For example one customer is saying "Customer service is horrible"

I will check, thank you very much Do you think it's worth going with the 710 and 809 head to head? They have slightly different testing capabilities, I still don't know exactly what it is, just from the name...I have to use Google... On the other hand, I feel like the 809 is a bit too much for a first device... on the other hand, it's more affordable, as if it can read several manufacturers... The question is how critical is the difference in their tests

The 510 is discontinued.

Sure? There is a 23 year model

The 710 only works on one brand of vehicle.

Isn't that a free one? Every manufacturer is paid except one that comes as if with the scanner

I'll check them out, thanks. I know that a complex scanner will not make me a better mechanic, it is a tool that can explain to me what the problem is and where it is or what is going on and then you can guess where the problem is
