P0172 & P0102 on 2010 Toyota Yaris

Hello all..

I have a 2010 Yaris with about 95K miles.  In past 2 months, it had an oil change, tune up including new spark plugs, new engine air filter, new cabin filter, new brake fluid and a coolant flush.

My engine light came on a week ago.  Went to local repair shop; was told engine was misfiring and it needed new fuel injectors - so they replaced all 4 along with replacement of an ignition coil and VVT solenoid.  Picked up the car from repair shop, and drove about 1/2 a mile, engine light came on - with error code P0172.  Took back to that shop; they diagnosed it as faulty oxygen sensors (B1S1 and B1S2); so they replaced them.  The engine light/error code of P0172 did not go away.  They kept car for another day - let it run for 2+ hours to see if the error cleared, but it didn't.  They cleaned MAF sensor also.  But the error still showed, so the repair shop told me take this to the dealer.

After coming home, I opened the MAF sensor to visually inspect and then I installed it back.

Now, I get P0172 and P0102 errors.

Any idea what could be wrong with the vehicle?

I have spent about $3900 on this car in past 2 months in terms of maintenance and repairs.

Well one, you're being totally ripped off by idiots who don't know what they're doing. They are just guessing there are many reasons an engine can run too rich. But any good mechanic should be able to figure it out by analyzing the data that comes out on a fancy scan tool. Commonly on Hondas. It's bad fuel injectors that are leaking fuel or bad engine sensors that give the wrong amount of air fuel ratio to the computer. I would start there

Thank you 🙏🏼.
