Scotty my 2012 chrysler 200 3.6 V-6 98,000 miles automatic trans. My problem I'm driving and the car just stops dies. I pull over and if I wait for 1 hour or more it usually starts up again. Had a new battery installed ( the battery has never been secured properly it is just in place but it can move around) all the shops never tried to secure. It ran good for approx. 400 miles then started the same problem. Had it in 3 shops so far all can't find the problem and said no codes found. New eng. oil pump, new oil psi sending unit. I found out that the battery was not secured properly. All the hold down brackets and all parts that secure the battery were missing and still are. Car is totally unreliable and I need a real fix please. I am a mechanic but the car is with my daughter in Virginia. Please Please Please help. I could have it towed to you if you can fix it. Thanks Paul S. Please contact me at <removed> asap. Thanks again

Instructions for visiting Scotty are in the FAQ, but he is in Tennessee for half the year, and on Rhode Island for the rest. Not exactly close to you.

Well I would start with replacing the hold-downs. The terminals on a janky battery are constantly going to be loosening themselves and stalling your car. There are universal kits you can buy at the auto parts store.
Do you have a scan tool? If so have it record sensor data while driving the car such as RPM, MAF, MAP, IAT, ECT, O2 sensor, fuel trims, fuel pressure, and oil pressure switch.
When the car stalls replay the recorded data and see if any sensor data is not within normal range.
I had a 2000 Chevy Impala 3.8L with an engine that would shut off while I was driving down the road. It turned out being a faulty MAP sensor causing it. Without scan tool data it's hard to know what's happening.
When the car won't start you could try spraying starting fluid into the air intake and seeing if the engine will start. If it does at least you know the engine has spark.
