Hello Scotty and community. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how bad driving on rough roads with bumps and potholes are for your car suspension? And how badly does it affect alignment? Thank you
need more information please. Are you talking about paved roads, or dirt roads? And what kind of vehicle are you driving?
Well of course hitting potholes will cause issues with the alignment and premature wear/damage of suspension components. Rough roads, if taken at reasonable speeds for the vehicle, are less of an issue. But smacking pot holes is never a good idea. It can lead to blowouts, suspension damage, and other issues.
It can easily damage the tires (cause tire bulge), suspensions and alignment of your car.
Well it's certainly going to wear things out more quickly and if you drive regularly that way you'll need more frequent alignments. Best to go slow under those conditions. Aside from suspension damage you can bend wheels and damage tires.
