Hey Scotty I have become a big fan of your content! You have helped me over the years with countless auto repairs large and small. I needed my first pickup truck for trips to Lowe's and settled on a very clean, one owner, high mileage square body F-150. Dual tanks and an 8 foot bed (that never has to be made!) An old fella really loved it and only sold it because he developed knee problems and couldn't drive a stick anymore. This was the last year of the square bodies, but the first year of OBD II, so I am pretty pleased with the find! I needed to fix a few things but now I have no problems at all! Nothing is broken! I was just wondering if you know of anything particular about these vehicles that one should keep an eye out for. I do have some frame rust, some considerable pitting, but the frame does appear to still be sturdy. Should I sand, rust convert/prime and paint the frame? Or maybe just sand it down good and leave it at that? Picture included of the worst of it. Here are the few things I had to fix: one wheel was rusted and starting to chip around the inner rim, made noise on the road. So new wheels and tires. Had weak fuel pumps, which was causing rough starts when hot and check engine lights that it was running lean. New fuel pump and now she purrs, improved fuel economy too. Made a whirring and sometimes foghorn sort of sound at times when idling. Cleaned the IAC valve and now the noise rarely happens. Replaced a rear leaf spring shackle mount that had rusted and snapped. That's it! I have on my radar to do a full coolant flush with conventional green because Ford still calls for it I believe. Anything else come to mind on these? Thanks Scotty! Cheers - Ryan
