Roof damage - not leaking now but potential future leak?

I looked at a 2007 Volvo xc70. phenomenal condition mechanically, very well taken care of. only one big issue is that a tree fell on the roof a few months ago. The roof is dented quite a bit, is pretty uneven, and it caves in a little towards the sunroof. If I was to fix it, it would require an entire roof replacement (thousands and thousands $$$). My mechanic says further down the line the drains on the roof could get clogged, but the seller insists that's not the case because obviously there isn't such thing as a waterproof sunroof, and that all water that enters the roof area drains down the sides of the car. I was told by a body shop inspector that if it is not leaking now, then it shouldn't leak later on. What do you think?

Moonroofs are not 100% sealed. They have channels where the water drains, if those get clogged, then water will leak in the cabin.

Find another vehicle. It may have unseen damage around the windshield pillars. Windshield and roof are part of safety structure of vehicle.

So if the draining is not an issue, will the bruised up roof cause issues further down the line? Could it collapse or something like that since the foundation is crumbled?
