Rusted unibody 1995 Geo Prizm

My front end cannot be aligned because of unibody rust. 2 people have told me they can't tighten things up. I have to buy 2 new tires every 2 or 3 months. I have been told it should be "retired" but it is good, otherwise.

I have replaced many parts with the help of your videos, I just have not been able to save up enough money for a replacement car. The tires I buy end up costing about $80 a month. I drive Grub hub part time because it us the only thing I have found that is flexible enough for me to make money on a regular basis to supplement my SSDI, working around my health problems.

I saw a video where you welded new metal onto the sides of a car.  My Prizm is originally from Wisconsin. It is also hard to jack up because of rust. I have had it 4 years and bought it with insurance money after my 1998 Corolla LE was hit by someone who ran a red light. It is in my driveway. I keep wondering if I could fix it. I get sentimentality attached to cars I drove my kids in and put my own blood, sweat, and tears into to keep them on the road. I should probably get therapy for that, LOL.

I guess most anything is fixable if you have enough money. But not unibodies?

I hate rust. My Prizm was still worth $1,200, but no if I had to pay shop prices for replacing the struts, exhaust manifold, brake calipers and rotors, radiator, and other things I have done with your help.

I share your "beater car" videos regularly with other delivery drivers who cringe at putting so many miles on their car. My Corolla had 316,000 miles on it and was going strong. I put 80 miles a day on it when my kids were in school. I put 50-60 a day doing GrubHub. I can't believe what some new cars cost. I have bought houses for less than $40,000.

Welcome to Tennessee. Maybe you should have a buy-sell-trade forum page for people who have cars like you recommend. And maybe you should host an event in your new hometown for Meet and Greet. I would love to meet you in person. I don't want to pay $40 for a picture with you, but I'd love a selfie. I think we need to get more young people, including girls, into learning basic life skills like basic (or not so basic) auto maintenance and repair, making wise purchasing decisions, self-reliance, thrift, and you and your wife probably have some useful relationship advice for young people, and not-so-old. I really am concerned about kids these days.

Didn't mean to ramble. I doubt there is a cost-effective way to fix my rust/alignment issue. It just seems wasteful to have to junk it.

Welcome to Tennessee.

Maybe you should find a compatible Corolla/Prism with a blown engine/transmission, and do a "heart transplant" (engine/trans axle) of your Prism into it. If you are in  Tennessee, you should be able to find a suitable low-rust car for very low $.

Repairing rust on the structural parts of a unibody? Even professional car rebuilders/welders stay away from that.
