Hey Scotty, I’m looking to trade my 2008 Dodge Dakota in for another truck. There’s a 2005 Toyota Tacoma for just under 20k. It has 105,000 miles on it. Is this a good year for the Tacoma? And is the 20,000 dollar price too much?
Ehh, truck prices always will look bewildered to me no matter how many times I see it. That being said, that's about average, you can probably negotiate to get it lower, get the thing inspected by a mechanic as well. I'd say as long as the frame rust issue (major Toyota lawsuit) is resolved then you should be good to go.
I have owned a 2005 Tacoma v6 with TRD since new, now with 220K. They came with major frame rust issues which was remedied via a class action suit Toyota lost, and Toyota has to replace the frame and many other components. The bill for mine totaled 17K, Toyota paid it. If the that truck did have the frame replacement, that's a bonus. If not, I would make sure you have the frame inspected for rust.
Other than that, if maintained, it should last forever.
FYI, I paid $28,300 for mine brand new in 2005, the prices for these used are insane
20k is alot for an 2005 but theyre all expensive see how close to 16 he'll get then go in for the final inspection -
