Spark plug analysis

Hi Scotty team, I have an 08 accord with a 2.4L, auto trans and 200k miles. I recently replaced the spark plugs and found the old plugs were rusty on the electrode and the threads close to the electrode. I also found an old reciept and discovered the irridium plugs were replaced 2 years ago (20k miles of usage). Any idea what would cause a rusty plug? Intake manifold/ gasket maybe?

This car is newer to me, had it a year or so. The idle isn't as smooth as I'd like it (in neutral), seems to run well otherwise. Uses a bit of oil per Honda's description but nothing excessive - about a quart between oil changes.

I replaced the plugs after I changed the timing chain and VTC actuator, it was pinging formerly and required a new actuator per Honda TSB. Could the rust and wear be on account of detonation?

Happy to forward photos on!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Trevor

Only thing I can think of is if the car sat for a long time and moister condensation rusted the end of the plugs.  If only water is used in the cooling system, maybe a slow head gasket leak got some coolant into the combustion chambers and rusted the plugs.
