I just had an oil change on my car and my mechanic suggested that I needed to get my strut plate mount replaced because it was making a little noise (I have never heard it,) and that it would be about $700 for that work and an alignment. Is this something I can live with, something I have to get replaced right away, or should I be looking at a new vehicle? Thanks Scotty

Why is it that $700 seems to be the magic number for any repair they "find" when looking at your car? Who is your mechanic, P.T. Barnum?

Rockauto shows KYB strut mounts for that car for about $53 each, if that's the part you're talking about.
