Hey there
Just picked up a 2001 Town and Country AWD, 100k miles. For $300. Was sitting for 7 years. But interior is nice leather seats, really nice shape inside and out. No rust underneath. And started right up despite sitting so long. Has no blowby either. Inner and outer tie rods are shot, had to triple a it home. Wondering if I got a good deal. And if it was maybe better than my 07 odyssey, with 160k miles. The dodge is also the limited AWD and seems to shift fine.
Just wanted to see if my assumption is correct. If it runs fine with no apparent knocking or blowby or engine lights and doesn't misfire. Then compression is more than likely ok? I'm aware a compression test would tell me, but looking for best assumption for now.
Also got a 96 Chevy Tahoe, 200k, for $800, 4wd, lifted, big tires. Manual trans, I was told doesn't come with a manual stock, they had it swapped. 4wd works great, engine no blowby.
***Just 3rd synchro seems to be going out, makes that grind sound when go into gear. Clutch was recently changed*
Are the synchros easy to change? Or better yet, worth it to change?
Wondering if you feel I got a good deal on these cars.
You can't expect much out of a 25-year-old $300 junker. If it runs and drives for a while you're ahead of the game.
Town and Country AWD?? Any good
Nope. One of the worst. But you can't complain for $300. Even if it lasts a month you still win.
