Toyota 2005 Highlander V4 2WD rattle on cold in Drive

Hi Scotty,

I've been watching your videos about Toyota. They are great. However, I've not once found a video that talks about the problem i have with my old Toyota Highlander 2005 (2004 model) v4 2wd vehicle. In Puerto Rico the weather is hot, but I always pre-warm my engine before getting going. And even with that, when I start moving and put the car into Drive I always hear some rattling from underneath. It sticks around for another 5 or so minutes and eventually goes away after the car has been driven. I'm wondering what could it be and whether I should be concerned?

Thank you kindly.

Alex

Often that's just a catalytic converter starting to break down inside but if it runs okay you can live with it

Thank you!

The check engine light scan does give
P0420, so that would make sense.

When I bought it it had a blow by gas. So I changed the PCV valve and the hose from the PCV valve and there is no more blow by and the oil is clean.

That was the code scan

Raw code: 0420
ECU: 10
Status: Confirmed
OBDII: Catalytic converter system, bank 1 - efficiency below threshold
Toyota: Catalytic Converter System Bank 1 Efficiency Below Threshold
