Scotty, how about doing a piece on the new Toyota Dynamic Force engines? They seem quite complex and have a lot of plastic. Do you think this will present problems in the future compared to the trouble free longevity of the 2AR-FE it replaced.
FWIW, … I’m seeing bit of oil dilution. So it seems so. Also, that 0W-16 seems to expand with temperature quite a bit more than other oils, … say, 0W-20 ( both Mobil1). For example, when changing oil and setting level exactly at mid-range on the dipstick, … you go for a drive for 10 min., park a car at exactly same spot where you changed your oil and wait 10 min., level check will indicate level at just a smidgen under a full mark. Odd, … one has to be careful when changing oil not to overfill it!
Other than that, … engine performs well. So does the rest of a car - just a recall on the fuel pump ( non in stock, so awaiting call for when pump available, … it’s been about 2 months since recall notification). Not as efficient as, … say, my ‘10 Honda CRV. Same trip length, same start and end destination, same route, same driver, pretty well same atmospheric condition: ‘10 Honda will log 7.3 litre/100 km. ‘19 RAV-4 will log 7.8 litre/100 km. Not a big difference, … but there is yuuuge, yuuuge technology difference! And for what purpose??? Anyway, A25A engine is quite complicated beast, - BMW like!

Not so much plastic, I've seen more on other manufacturers. I'd be more concerned with the electronics.
