Hello Scotty,
I'm from Canada and I have a regularly maintained 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv (automatic transmission) with approximately 130 500kms. On moving from a stopped position (at a traffic light), the traction control light came on on the dash and the car felt like the gear was not shifting up. Naturally the engine was at a high sounding revolution but I kept it out of the red. I tried switching to the manual mode but the dash just displayed "M" without a gear number; I switched back to automatic mode. I drove it a short distance then switched the car off and on again- the light disappeared and I could not duplicate the problem. I took the car in to a Mazda dealership (which has been servicing the car since purchased) and they could not duplicate the problem. They scanned the car and said the only code that came up was for the left battery node; but, they said the battery was new. They suggested that perhaps if someone had changed the transmission oil that they may have put the wrong oil in and that could have caused the problem, to which I responded that they were the only ones servicing the car and as far as I know they never did that. They suggested that the next time it happens to bring the car in and don't shut it off. I asked them about their thoughts on changing the transmission oil and they suggested that it is a debatable topic but Mazda believes that the transmission fluid lasts for the life of the car and should not be changed. To my content, I was not charged for an non-resulting diagnosis. Could you possibly lend your expertise and suggestions?
FYI: I've never had any problems with this vehicle since purchase other than general services like brakes, wheel bearing replacement, oil changes etc.
Regards,
SJ.
what a bunch of goofs. If it had bad oil, it would be acting up all the time. It sounds like an electronic gremlin to me.
Thanks for the suggestion mountainmanjoe!
