I have a 1999 honda accord, it's getting a P0705 code "transmission range sensor circuit malfunction (2-posi)", the neutral safety switch which was thought to be the problem was replaced later that week it came back, what could it be?

It sounds to me like an electrical fault.

If it’s not an electrical fault - which is probably is. Check the wiring.

Jf the computer is fine I’d just replace the sensor they’re like $200…

alternatively you can clear and ignore it you’re sure if the transmission is running correctly and shifts smoothly.

but generally, I’d advise you to go to an electrician…

The code is saying, P0705  "transmission range sensor circuit malfunction (2-posi)".

So, two or more contact points of the transmission range switch are ON at the same time. "(2-posi)"

You have a new switch and we'll assume it's functioning properly.

2 possibilities.

1) You have some wires (on that old plug under the hood) which connects to the plug of the new harness of your new Park Neutral Position switch which have either corroded together, shed insulation and are touching, or grounding to something else.

So inspect that old plug. Check the sockets for corrosion (there's like 10 little sockets on that plug) and then look at the back of it where the wires go in.

Check that they're in the plug securely and confirm that none are corroded or have lost insulation and are "shorting" together.

Follow those wires back and just be sure none are shorting out on anything.

2)  You didn't adjust the switch correctly when you installed it.

Ideally, before removing the old switch, you put the car in Neutral and then scribed or used a pencil to trace the edge of the old Park Neutral Position switch onto the trans case so you could put the new one in the exact position as the old one.

Then, after ensuring the new switch was in the Neutral position and that the internal spring-loaded ball had "clicked" into the detent position, you replaced the switch using your marks on the case to precisely position the new switch.

So in your case, if you find no issues with the aforementioned plug/wiring and you are confident that you did the install correctly, it probably just needs the adjustment "tweaked".

I would mark the present position on the trans case, of the Park Neutral Position switch and then move it a little.

Clear the code and try that new "alignment".

There isn't much of an adjustment range.  Just as much as those oblong shaped bolt holes on the Park Neutral Position switch allow you to turn the switch with the bolts (loose) in the case.

It may take you a few tries, just be sure to mark each position so you know the positions you've tried.

Also, Check Your Transmission Fluid.

last time I asked ""I have a 1999 honda accord, it's getting a P0705 code "transmission range sensor circuit malfunction (2-posi)", the neutral safety switch which was thought to be the problem was replaced later that week it came back, what could it be?""

i was told it could be a wiring issue or the switch itself, I checked and to the best of my knowledge the wiring looks in good condition still, and the switch was replaced.

now the code is back again, and today another code came up saying "transmission range sensor performance" if anyone knows how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it.

Did you try adjusting the sensor switch? Those oblong shaped mounting holes on the switch are there for adjustment.

The code is, P0705 "transmission range sensor circuit malfunction (2-posi)".

So, 2 or more switch positions in the transmission range sensor switch (neutral safety switch) are closed at the same time. "(2-posi)".

The computer is being told that your Honda is in 2 gearshift positions at once.

Assuming the new TRS switch is working right, then either the adjustment of the TRS switch isn't "just right" or some wiring is "shorting' together between the sensor's plug connection and the computer.
