So ya I may have really screwed myself. I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma automatic with 112,000 miles on it. I got the truck at 80k miles and was never informed that I had to change the trans fluid until recently, and it was never changed before. Despite the risk I decided to go ahead and change the fluid and filter because I heard the Toyota trannies are usually ok, and now the tranny slips when going up the slight hill. I used the recommended WS fluid and changed the gasket and everything. I only drove it a little though, so I haven’t given it much time. Have I really messed myself up on this one or will the problem maybe work itself out? I kept the old trans oil, would it help to drain the pan and put the old stuff back in? Or maybe I should drain it again and put more new stuff in? I appreciate any advice, thanks!
You did not need to drop the pan, you could just do the drain and refill. Drain a quarter of the ATF and add Lucas anti slip to it and see what happens.
