Own a 2005 Toyota Sienna and it has some minor superficial rust on the control arms due to the northeast. I heard from a person who's brother works for Toyota and says that the control arms on a Sienna suffer from severe rust then it needs replacement and it's a major and expensive job. There's many ways to undercoat a car, but can anyone advise me on the best and easiest way to do it? DYI, Product, ways, Etc.? Any recommended professional shops in the northeast?
If the control arms are solid steel then you don't need to worry. If they're hollow tube construction then just replace them when the rust gets bad. They don't cost very much and the bushings/balljoints will need replacing anyway

17 years old and only minor surface rust, I probably wouldn’t do any coating at all.
If you really want to, I would probably just:
- wire brush off the worst and clean with isopropyl alcohol
- rust reformer/primer
- good brand black spray paint
That should last the rest of the life of vehicle
Great Idea... Can spray primer and spray paint like Rustoleum be ideal? Can one use spray rust removal first like East Wood Products, Etc.?
rustoleum rust converter paint is actually very inexpensive and effective. Just spray it right on.
